Launch of the Matchmaking Platform for the twinning of European cities

     The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) is officially launching a unique Matchmaking Platform, which will be a key tool for strengthening cooperation between local communities across Europe. This innovative project, created in cooperation with the German Ministry for Cooperation and Development and GIZ, has already gained a lot of support, particularly in the context of Ukraine’s recovery.

About the platform: from idea to action

     The Matchmaking Platform offers a simple and convenient way for cities to establish twinning, implement joint projects, and support each other in addressing their most pressing challenges.

Key features of the platform:
✔️ Finding partners to implement projects in the areas of reconstruction, digitalization, climate change adaptation, medicine, and other areas.
✔️ Expanding international relations for sustainable development.
✔️ Creating a solid foundation for long-term cooperation between communities.

   In less than a week, 90 municipalities have joined the platform. And this is just the beginning!

Ukraine in the spotlight

     Special emphasis is placed on supporting Ukrainian cities. The inspiration for this was a bold statement by the German Ministry for Cooperation and Development: “Every city in Ukraine should find a partner in Europe.”
This platform will become the basis for cooperation between Ukrainian cities and their European partners, providing them with the necessary tools to recover, develop their economies and build a common future.
