On November 8, at the All-Ukrainian Mayors’ Summit, Petro Bahriy, co-founder of RSE, delivered a speech on the state and prospects of renewable energy development in Ukraine. RSE, as one of the Summit’s sponsors, shared its vision and experience in the energy sector.

Petro Bahriy spoke about the history and achievements of RSE, which, despite its relatively young age, has more than 30 years of experience in the energy sector. RSE is one of the leading European companies, a manufacturer of containerized cogeneration modules based on MWM gas piston engines and waste heat and steam boilers, which together ensure uninterrupted operation of electricity and heat production. It is actively operating in Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. The company has ambitious plans to significantly increase its production capacity by 2025.

Particular attention was paid to the activities of Clear Energy, the Ukrainian subsidiary of RSE, which is a leader in the renewable energy and waste management market in Ukraine. Clear Energy owns and operates 27 energy facilities, including biomass power plants, thermal power plants and biogas plants.
The company’s main areas of activity are:
– Biomass power plants with a total installed capacity of 22.4 MW and an average annual output of more than 170 million kW.
– Thermal power plants with a total installed capacity of 71.5 MW and an average annual output of 260 thousand Gcal.
– 18 biogas plants with different capacities ranging from 0.5 to 5 MWh of electric power.
– Every year, the company processes more than 500 thousand tons of waste, which produces an average annual volume of 82 million m3 of biogas for further electricity generation to the grid.

Specialists at RSE s.r.o. have been successfully engaged in the production, design, installation, operation, and servicing of cogeneration modular units and other types of energy equipment in Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland for over 15 years. The company’s production facilities for manufacturing modular units based on MWM engines have a capacity of 20 fully operational cogeneration modules per month. Starting in December 2024, monthly production will be increased to 40 units. Overall, the company plans to produce 500 fully operational cogeneration modular units in 2025.

To meet market needs and demands, RSE has launched serial production of modular cogeneration units on an automotive platform based on MWM engines with a capacity of 1 MW. These units are fully autonomous power sources, flexible, and convenient to operate. Sales are scheduled to begin in November-December 2024.

The product range of steam and hot-water waste heat boilers for MWM engines includes three main types of models:

  • Steam waste heat boilers with pressure up to 13 bar, ranging from 600 to 1,800 kg of steam per hour.
  • Dual steam waste heat boilers with pressure up to 13 bar, ranging from 1,480 to 2,400 kg of steam per hour.
  • Hot-water waste heat boilers utilizing exhaust gases, providing 440 to 1,840 kW of thermal energy.

All these models are available in open or modular designs, tailored to customer orders. The company’s total production capacity is up to 400 waste heat boilers per year, and RSE continues to expand its output. Nearly every cogeneration module produced by RSE is equipped with a waste heat boiler manufactured in-house.

Petro Bahriy also emphasized the critical condition of Ukraine’s energy system, which has suffered significant damage from massive missile attacks over the past year of war. He highlighted that the fastest and most effective solution for rebuilding balancing and backup generation in Ukraine is decentralized generation based on cogeneration modules and gas engine plants, as well as the implementation of energy storage systems.

Clear Energy is actively working to meet the needs of businesses and households in Ukraine for reliable sources of electricity and heat. Thanks to the efforts of companies like Clear Energy and RSE, Ukraine can successfully overcome its energy challenges and develop renewable energy.
