The Mayors' Club has officially announced
its participation in the Horizon Europe project
for carbon neutral cities U_CAN
and invites to join
the Network of External Partners (NEP)
On November 8, at the All-Ukrainian Summit of Mayors, Yulia Chufistova, a member of the Presidium of the Mayors’ Club, announced the launch of the U_CAN project with the participation of the CU Mayors in the project consortium. The project is part of the Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Program, which is funded by the European Commission and contributes to the implementation of the European Green Deal, adopted in 2020 as a set of policy initiatives of the European Commission with the main goal of making the European Union climate neutral in 2050.
The U_CAN project will enable Ukrainian cities to align their strategies and standards with EU climate policy. This will be achieved through targeted support for the efforts of Ukrainian city administrations to cooperate and interact with their European counterparts.
As a result of the successful implementation of the project, the Ukrainian cities participating in it will have clearly defined and contextually adapted climate strategies that will effectively contribute to their achievement of climate neutrality. Through interaction with Mission Cities, Ukrainian cities will improve their capacity to reduce anthropogenic climate impact and will be able to implement relevant local plans and measures.
The U_CAN project invites organizations to join the Network of External Partners (NEP). The U_CAN External Partners Network brings together organizations from Ukraine and the EU that are committed to climate neutrality. This interactive network brings together stakeholders who have the experience and capacity to contribute to sustainable development in key sectors.
Why join the U_CAN NEP?
U_CAN’s Network of External Partners (NEP) is a valuable resource for finding partners, sharing knowledge, and facilitating interdisciplinary cooperation to support Ukraine on its path to climate neutrality.
By joining the network, organizations will receive the following benefits:
– Visibility through listing on the U_CAN website
– Access to a wider European and Ukrainian audience
– Participation in public project events
– Interaction with like-minded partners
– Exploring opportunities for joint project development, capacity building, and funding.
NEP members do not necessarily have to participate in U_CAN project activities. On the contrary, they will be added to the U_Can interactive map, which will facilitate networking with interested institutions seeking to cooperate with Ukraine in the field of climate neutrality.
The type of organization is not a determining factor. The primary goal is to build a broad network of organizations committed to the shared objective of achieving climate neutrality in Ukraine or EU-based entities interested in collaborating with or supporting Ukrainian efforts. These organizations can include, but are not limited to:
- Municipal Institutions
- Research and Academic Institutions
- Private Companies
- International Organizations
- Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)
- Financial Institutions
The focus is on uniting diverse stakeholders working towards the same cause.
If your organization is interested, please fill out the data collection form: U_CAN Network of External Partners Data Collector to facilitate the process of joining and help us understand your experience and perspectives. We also provide an Informed Consent Form that outlines the purpose of the NEP and the motivation for providing data for the interactive map.
On the project website, you can find detailed information about the NEP, which will help you establish a meaningful exchange with other initiatives working to achieve climate neutrality in Ukraine. We appreciate your support in building a strong network of external partnerships.
Join U_Can in the quest to make Ukraine climate neutral!
